Our clinic is a private practice, therefore all children's appointments are charged. We do not receive any funding from the government for any of our paediatric services. If you choose to be seen privately, you accept the charges associated with your child's appointment.

EAR WAX REMOVAL FOR CHILDREN
At Hobsonville Hearing, we understand that ear wax build-up can be particularly challenging for children. That's why we offer specialised ear wax removal services using gentle microsuction techniques. Our experienced audiologists ensure a comfortable and safe experience, prioritising your child's well-being. By using microsuction, we can effectively and precisely remove ear wax without the use of water or invasive tools, reducing the risk of discomfort or infection.
FULL HEARING TEST FOR CHILDREN
Our Paediatric Full Hearing Test is available to children 4.5 years or older. Our specialised audiologists use state-of-the-art equipment and child-friendly techniques to accurately assess your child's hearing abilities. This thorough evaluation includes a series of non-invasive tests designed to identify any hearing issues, allowing us to tailor the most effective treatment plan. We create a welcoming and comfortable environment to help ease any anxieties, ensuring that both you and your child feel at ease throughout the process.
PLAY AUDIOMETRY FOR CHILDREN
Our Play Audiometry hearing assessment is tailored for young children aged 3–4 years, providing a fun and engaging way to assess their hearing. This specialised approach uses interactive games and child-friendly techniques to keep little ones relaxed and focused throughout the evaluation. Our experienced audiologists use state-of-the-art equipment to conduct accurate, non-invasive tests, ensuring reliable results while making the experience enjoyable for your child. We prioritise creating a warm, supportive environment to ease any anxieties for both children and parents. With this playful and effective method, we can identify potential hearing concerns early and provide personalised recommendations to support your child’s hearing health.
OUTER/MIDDLE EAR ASSESSMENT (GLUE EAR)
Our Outer/Middle Ear Assessment for children is specially designed to diagnose conditions such as glue ear, which can significantly impact a child's hearing and overall ear health. Our experienced audiologist uses advanced diagnostic tools to evaluate the function and health of the outer and middle ear. This thorough assessment helps us identify any fluid buildup, infection, or structural issues that may be causing hearing difficulties in your child. With a precise diagnosis, we can develop an effective treatment plan to address the problem and improve your child's hearing health.
FAMILY HEARING CENTRE
Our colleagues' at Family Hearing Centre in Epsom specialise in paediatric care; in particular, Visual Reinforcement Audiometry (VRA) testing for children under 3-years and Auditory Processing Disorder (APD) testing.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do you see children for ear wax removal?
Yes, we have seen many children at Hobsonville Hearing for ear wax removal and the removal of foreign objects from the ears. Our audiologist will do everything she can to ensure your child has a positive experience, as we know this type of procedure can be scary for children. We do not have an age limit, however; it depends on the child as to whether they will be able to tolerate the procedure.
We offer two different appointments for children of different ages for ear wax removal:

Ear Wax Removal for Children (4 and under) - this is a 20 minute appointment and is $75.

Ear Wax Removal for Children (aged 5 to 16) - this is a 10 minute appointment and is from $60. Please note that if the appointment goes overtime you will be charged $75.
Do you have an age limit for hearing assessments?
Yes - while we have a small range of paediatric services at our clinic, we are unable to perform a full hearing assessment for children below the age of 3 years - we do not have the equipment to perform Visual Reinforcement Audiometry (VRA) testing. We highly recommend our colleagues at Family Hearing Centre, who specialise in paediatric care and can see children as young as 6-months old for hearing assessments.
Is there a charge for paediatric appointments?
Yes - as we are a private practice, all children's appointments are charged. We do not receive any funding from the government for any of our paediatric services. If you choose to be seen privately, you accept the charges associated with your child's appointment.
Why can't I book paediatric hearing tests online?
Our paediatric hearing assessments are strictly by GP, ENT or specialist referral only - if your child has been referred for a hearing assessment, please call the clinic (09-930-9880) to book. Please let us know the name and contact details of the person who you have been referred by.
