INSURANCE
Hearing aids are usually covered by default under most home contents insurance policies, but you may need to tell your insurer that you have bought them and update your policy. Hobsonville Hearing strongly recommends getting in touch with your insurance company to clarify whether your hearing aids are covered, or to have them listed under your policy.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU LOSE OR SIGNIFICANTLY DAMAGE YOUR HEARING AIDS?
1. Contact Hobsonville Hearing on 09-930-9880 or info@hobsonvillehearing.co.nz
We can keep an eye out for any communication from your insurer regarding your claim.
2. Contact your insurance provider to start the claim process
If you are contacted by another audiology provider about your claim or if your insurer directs you to a different clinic (their ‘preferred supplier’), you can tell them that you’d like to stay with Hobsonville Hearing. Some patients have felt pressured to get replacement aids with preferred suppliers instead of their usual audiologist or clinic. They often offer ‘upgrade’ or ‘free services’ incentives to sway your decision. You always have a choice when it comes to your health, including the replacement of your hearing aids.
If you were originally fit with hearing aids at Hobsonville Hearing, we will always look after you - we can provide you with the same aftercare you may be offered elsewhere and we already have your previous records and hearing aid settings, so the re-fitting process will be simple and straight-forward.
3. We will work with your insurance provider to process your claim, then order your replacement hearing aids.
As soon as your hearing aids arrive at our clinic, we’ll give you a call to arrange a fitting appointment so that you can get back to hearing well again as quickly as possible.
